STRATFORD
Stratford is a quiet village in one of the
most scenic areas of West Wicklow. The Village's name is
derived from the Stratford family of the 18th century who
founded a textile printing mill in the area. Also known as
Stratford-on-Slaney the village rests on the river Slaney
which rises in the western Wicklow mountains and flows south
west through the county to its mouth into the Irish sea at
Wexford Town.
Stratford-on-Slaney has been Wicklow's
tidiest village for over the last twenty years.
