Meeting point of two river, Avonmore and Avonbeg which
was immortalized over two hundred years ago by the poet,
Thomas Moore. This is located just down the road from
Avondale which is overlooked by the beautiful Castle
Howard.
“Here on a rustic seat, formed from the root of a tree”,
Moore is said to have written the words of the Irish
Melody, “The Meeting of the Waters”.
The adjacent pub, The Meetings, is also a well known
landmark, renowned for outdoor traditional music, ballad
sessions and of course, the “craic”. this location is
also within walking distance of award winning pubs and
restaurants.
